OptiFlex - The Story Behind the OptiFlex Knee CPM

When the Chattanooga Group first began research on continuous passive motion devices for the knee, we found a market that was staid and stagnant. Other manufacturers thought their designs needed no improvement, though the word from clinicians indicated otherwise. As a result, our engineers went to work, listening to the advice from physicians, nurses and therapists to find features that were needed. This is how the OptiFlex Knee CPM was born. It's a true innovation! Features like Progressive ROM, Oscillation Zone, Fast Back and Comfort Zone didn't exist before OptiFlex. Imagine the difference these features can make in your patients, enhancing comfort, compliance and outcome. Our handheld pendant is ergonomically designed with easy-to-use buttons, back-lit display for maximum visibility, multiple language interface, context sensitive help and even a tough Santoprene bumper and seal.

Optiflex 3 Knee Continuous Passive Motion

Designed to provide anatomical motion for all types of CPM Knee Patients: Pediatric, Athletic, and Bariatric. Featuring patented unique technologies such as: Progressive Rom, Oscillation Zone™, Fast Back™ and Comfort Zone™.

Other new and improved features include:

Comfort Zone
Other CPMs simply reverse direction when the patient switch is activated and then returns right back to the point that caused the pain! The OptiFlex has the Comfort ZoneT button, which when activated, reverses the direction and reduces the ROM by five degrees. This allows the patient time to recover by not taking them right back into that painful ROM. After five cycles, the unit will increase ROM toward the flexion angle by one degree per cycle.
Fast Back
The Fast Back™ mode accelerates through the "non-working" range of motion at an increased speed. Since increases in range of motion occur at the end range (last 10 degrees), the majority of the time is spent going to and returning from that last 10 degrees. By increasing the speed in that "non-working" range, the patient spends more time in the critical "working" range of motion.
Oscillation Zone
The Oscillation ZoneT mode mimics a technique the therapist uses to increase the end range of motion. When the programmed flexion angle is reached, the unit will reverse direction towards the extension angle for 10 degrees and then return to the flexion angle. This will repeat three times and then return to the extension angle. The result is more time spent in the working range of motion.
Progressive ROM
The Progressive ROM feature was designed to automatically increase the flexion ROM five degrees per day until the programmed final flexiaon angle is attained. This feature is based on a study that demonstrated the most compliant patient was progressed at five degrees per day. Better coompliance means better outcomes.

OptiFlex S - The New Wave in Technology

The OptiFlex S is easy-to-use and simple to program. In the past, shoulder CPMs were hard to adjust and often impossible for the savviest of clinicians to understand. Many practitioners were afraid of imprecise movements that could totally reverse the effects of surgery. The OptiFlex S is truly different. It features such technology as the OptiCard™ chip card, which stores a patient's individual treatment paramenters, and an easy-to-read digital display that shows adduction/abduction and internal/external rotation in a clear and concise way. Punctuate those technological advances with precise anatomical motion. This high quality is not just for looks or "feel", it promises smooth movements that maintain natural alignment, working the shoulder gently to encourage healing. It also has a sleek design that actually folds for storage or transport.

You will truly have to see the OptiFlex S to believe the difference!
